Win A 12 Week Travel Photography Course From MatadorU

For those of you looking for more photography learning, have I an offer for you.

I’m teaming up with MatadorU to offer their Travel Photography Program, a $350 course, to one lucky winner of a random drawing here on The Carey Adventures. For those looking to possibly make travel photography a career or another opportunity to make some cash from what you’re most passionate about, this course is a great stepping stone. Packed with a lot of the basics you’ve seen here in my 31+ Days To Better Photography, the MatadorU program then ventures into the marketing side of travel photography.

The course is self-paced and spread over 12 weeks, with access to the material once modules are done, so there’s no need to worry about missing items if you happen to be off traveling (or just busy with life). Take a look at their site for more information on the course. And now, some rules:

Anyone worldwide may enter as long as they are legally able to win such a prize in their country. One entry per person. Only actual humans can enter. The drawing will be held on, or about, Monday the June 6th. I will use Random.org to pick a winner based on the order of entry. Deadline to enter is Monday, June 6th, 2011 at 9:00pm PDT.  MatadorU is not directly affiliated with the drawing, they are just the prize. The prize is tuition for 1 (one) person and I will be putting you in contact with MatadorU for claiming of the prize. Make sure your email address in the comment below is valid, otherwise, if your mail bounces and I can’t get a hold of you any other way, I will award the prize to another random commenter.

To enter, do one good thing for someone else, without them asking you to do it, and then leave a comment below. The comment need not be about the good thing you did at all. And the level of goodness does not matter as it’s a random drawing. I just think I should use this pulpit to force you to be nice. 🙂

Good luck!

UPDATE!

And the winner drawn at random from random.org last night by my daughter is…………#8 Henrik!!  Henrik, I will be sending you an email to get more information and transfer this prize to you.

Thank you to everyone for taking a moment to do something nice for someone else. It’s always worth it.

Nothing huge but during the last rainstorm I noticed our neighbors gutters were overflowing with water causing pooling net to their foundation. So I got out in the rain and cleaned out their gutters before they got home from worked. Solved the problem real quick. They were shocked as none of their previous neighbors had ever done anything as nice for them before.

My bestfriend lost her favorite necklace that her grandfather got her from the netherlands. She recently lost her grandfather and was realy heartbroken about loosing it. I searched on the internet and finally found the same necklace. I surprised her with it and I could realy tell that she loved it and made her feel like she had a part of him again.

Nothing much but today at Ikea, while everybody was leaving their carts all over the place, I brought mine all the way back to the entrance so the people working there had just a tiny bit less work today.

Good timing, I recently (a month back) got exclusive permission to pan for gold on a closed river to all gold panners, and just gave out 3 gifts of a gram of gold to 3 of my panning mates. You should have seen their faces 🙂 Nice prize too! Trust you’re enjoying your year Peter, it’s certainly a full life over here this year. Just got my G12 last weekend too!

OOH amazing. I’m struggling with this at the moment. I’ve always loved travel photography and have been a hobbiest for years. But I’ve started a small business and would love a little extra help!

I stopped at Toys R Us on the way home from work and bought a bunch of sidewalk chalk. Then the kids and I decorated our driveway with lots of colorful art. The boys really enjoyed it. The course looks awesome! What a great prize to win.

I posted a photo on Foursquare, Twitter, FB and Yelp of a beautifully plated entree (scallops on a bed of risotto blended with pea vine pistou and candied lemon) to help a SODO restaurant improve their recognition with Seattle foodies. The owner wrote a very nice thank you note and said he’d never had a patron photograph an entree before eating it. Of course, by the end of the meal there was nothing left 😉

an act of kindness no matter how small that was performed by me and my sweetie…… our neighbor next door had been gracious in letting someone pitch a tent during the winter months on their front yard…… they left in last week of April and we were spreading grass seed for our bare spots in our yard….. we saw that where the tent was in their yard killed the grass and we gave them 1/3 of the bag of grass seed we had left. And now I see that the grass is growing and looking so cute as young grass.

Peter thank you for the offer of such a wonderful opportunity to win this terrific class.

Great opportunity to enter – and also a good reason to get out there and think of something “good” to do for someone else. So, I decided it was time to get rid of some stuff in the house that I really don’t need to hang on to any longer, and donate it to Cheshire Homes, a local charity for disabled people. They have a shop from which they sell books, magazines, toys clothing etc.

I work for a hospital here locally and with the permission of the Cross Culture Director, I took pictures of admitted kids with their mothers in the hospital over Mother’s Day. They were immensely excited and I felt joy in my heart to give something back to the community through my talent as little as it sounds. I plan to do the same for Father’s Day as well.

What a very different, but inspiring way to enter a contest. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share our stories of kindness.

My friend recently quit her job due to poor management, and it had been an extremely hard decision to just quit her job. But considering the circumstances it was the right thing to do. Anyway, I was her shoulder and I leant her my ear so she could vent, and I could support her.

I am an actual human so I think I am elegible for the price, my birthday is just 4 days after the drawing so the price will be a really nice birthday present. And I am going to do more than one good deed just to tilt karma on my favor.

By the way I think no one will complay if you go and do “another 31+ days to better photography”

Good deed… well, I recently had an on-line auction for my sister’s friend who lost her daughter to Cancer last February. I would absolutely love the opportunity to do more good deeds big and small – a good deed a day if possible – and being able to travel the globe and meet people on a daily basis AND have the financial stability to do it could definitely help steer me in the right direction! I wish me good luck and thanks, Peter, for all your shared knowledge!

In regards to the good deed, I live about an hour and a half away from Joplin, Missouri. With the recent tornadoes that hit a few nights ago, and destroyed the town, I decided to go yesterday and buy up supplies that are needed for the people of Joplin. I just hope that my contribution helps in some way because these people have lost everything. We should all be so grateful to have our homes and our families.

Lots of chaos at my work, trying my best to be a positive sounding board and not being negative. It’s harder than I thought it would be. : )

Great idea and thank you for the reminder to do good deeds – today I drove my teammates to practice, I gave compliments and “good jobs” to people who deserved it and needed to hear it. Tomorrow I intend to do more because this really hit home for me that I did not do as much as I could have today to make a difference. Thanks for the opportunity and the reminder.

Recently a friend of mine died of cancer. Her dying wish was that my husband and I move in with her 82 year old widower so that he would not be lonely. We live in Panama and he has no other relatives in the country. We moved out of our house to move in with him to provide companionship and love as he heals during this tender time in his life. It has been a blessing to us as we are learning the true meaning of giving of ourselves. When it comes down to life and death, all we have to give is ourself.

Hi Peter~! I already did one but I thought I share another one with you~! Today I went to my son’s workplace to pick up some paperwork and money to help him get a ticket paid and to get an important piece of paperwork that would be beneficial to him. So I am on my back to his place of work and just before I take the turn to his street I see something in the road and try to miss it…. Front tire missed it but my back tire hit it as I was making the turn. I get to his work and give him the paperwork he needs and get back in the car and proceed to leave….. “thump thump~!” Oh nooooooo~! Damn it I have a back tire flat…..~! Calgon take me away~!!!
