Wide Open Spaces For Hiking – Photo Of The Day

Description: If you head to the Himalayas, bring your wide-angle lens.

Scenes like this one from the middle of Gokyo Valley are as wide as you might imagine. The trail takes a small meander through a dry landscape devoid of vegetation more than a foot or two high.

I would love to spend an extended time in the entire valley as we stop at the second of five lakes that string northward toward Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world.

Perhaps you have a photography group who is interested in some exploration beyond our normal itinerary?
