It’s that time of year. Chances are there is a county fair happening near you this weekend, if you are in the USA. Heck, even if you’re not, you might know of one within an hour drive.
This week’s topic is THE FAIR.
And to go with all the cotton candy, elephant ears and hot dogs, I would like to see what you can shoot at your lowest numbered aperture. For instance, the shot at right from the Maui County Fair is at f/4.0 and 1/13 of a second. The idea here is to have a shallow depth of field to highlight something, anything, that is of interest to you.
Post your photo by the time I go to sleep on Monday (because there is a Tuesday assignment as well!). Good luck on shooting this weekend!

enjoy!
I’ve always wanted to go to the fair at dusk and get some sunset and night shots. Unfortunately, I can’t drive after dark, so it hasn’t worked out. But I’ve seen some great shots taken by some local photographer friends. It’s a great subject.
Our fair doesn’t start for a couple of more weeks yet! I enjoy the articles you write for Digital Photography School and will be stopping by more often, especially so I can keep learning. I have so much to learn as a beginner. Thanks!
