Surreal LAX And Downtown Los Angeles

I was out on a pelagic birding trip today, where you hop on a boat and look for birds that don’t usually come ashore, when I took this surreal, or maybe impressionistic? photo.

That’s the main control town for LAX on the right with an oil tanker in the foreground. Behind it all is downtown Los Angeles.

Sure, LA has crappy air quality at times and honestly, there was a yellow pallor over land today as seen from the ocean. But even with that crud, this photo looks 21 miles to downtown and then maybe another 15 to the mountains behind.

The weird ripples? That’s from heat haze and can’t really be helped. It’s LA, after all.
