Solar In California – Photo Of The Day

Description: Out in the dry areas of California, this one near Victorville, plots of land not suitable for many other uses are sprouting solar panels. These aren’t the super large scale efforts some in the state are demanding, but they do make a difference in the state’s reliance on fossil fuels. This images makes it easy to see what experts call the “lake effect“, although given its location and size, this smaller installation would not likely attract large numbers of birds off their migratory routes.

From a photography standpoint, I love the contrast these panels create with the landscape. Like a body of water, they reflect the light above them (although many already have a blue coloring to them).
