Title: Seemingly Alone In Paradise
Location: Bailey Bay, Alaska, USA, North America
Description: Continuing with my assignment in August to take photos of the Wilderness Discoverer for Uncruise Adventures, this day really couldn’t have started any more perfect.
First, I was up early after staying up three hours the night before watching the Northern Lights.
Second, look at that water. The wind had not reached the boat yet so the water really was smooth as glass.
Third, the weather in Southeast Alaska is not often this sunny, especially this many days in a row.
Fourth, there was the perfect spot up a hill to take the drone and get a wide shot of the bay, boat, river, waterfall and distant lakes (the some guests would later bushwhack toward as there is not a well defined trail). Some place in there is a hot spring.
Fifth, the area is outside of any FAA restrictions for flying the drone. This can be a problem with a lot of areas marked as Wilderness or National Park (no fly zones).
All in all, I loved this day. It made it one of my more enjoyable work days as a photographer.
I have started two new photography learning series on my other blog: Photography Basics – A 43 Day Adventure, and its companion 40 Photography Experiments. The series are designed to unravel the mysteries of photography, helping you can take better pictures. Subscribe here to receive all the updates and bonus material.
