Title: Sunrise On Cho Oyu
Location: Gokyo, Solukhumbu, Nepal, Asia (27°57’13” N 86°41’36” E)
Description:Like whipped topping from a tub of Miracle Whip(R), morning clouds are formed and pull away from the summit of Cho Oyu on the Nepal/Tibet border. This is one of the great aspects about shooting in the Himalayas; the nearly endless variety of atmospheric conditions that bring all kinds of character to images.
There is nothing special about taking this photo, other than the 10 days it took to trek to this location (it can be done in less days, but when I visit the Himalayas I like to take it slow). A long lens on a cold morning with just the right conditions. Snap a few and then move on to the other peaks surrounding Gokyo and its beautiful lakes.
