This image first caught my attention because of what was not in it.  I had been taking pictures of a pair of macaws for a while, with their bright feathers flapping around the Peruvian jungle at Inkaterra Lodge.  Now I’m at home reviewing the pictures and it’s what’s missing in this photo that I like.

This image was only color adjusted a bit.  I did not hide the bird any more than the lighting originally did.  Here’s a list of what I did in Adobe Lightroom.

Highlight Recovery +36

Blacks +8 for mood

Brightness +20

Vibrance +52 to bring the tail to life, but still wasn’t happy with it so…

Adjustment Brush on just the tail set at Exp +.3, Brightness +25, Saturation +15, Contrast +5

Lens Correction Amount +40

Blue Saturation -90 because the sky color was really annoying and not true

Green Saturation +48 for color in leaves

Green Luminance +76 for leaves again.
