Title: Mig-29 Coming In For Landing In Everett, WA
Location: Paine Field, Everett, Washington, USA, North America
Description: I’ve been on something of an aviation kick lately with my photography. A nice diversion from all the pretty landscapes, although I do miss them now.
That diversion lead me to a berm overlooking Paine Field, the main airfield connected with Boeing’s Everett facility. The site is home to manufacturing of 747s, 777s and 787s and I had just enjoyed watching a test run from a Dreamliner when down the airfield I see two small lights.
While the airfield is also home to a lot of private planes, those are mostly prop planes, not jets. And these headlights I spotted were moving fast. Here’s an image from the take-off, which was far down the 1.75 mile long runway 34L.
With no idea of when the plane would return, I stayed around a little while longer until errands peeled me away.
But with luck, as I returned, bound for Whidbey Island, I was able to spend 30 minutes at the same airfield. And with luck, the MiG returned and landed to the South, right in front of the prime viewing location.
It was a very lucky day and I plan to head to visit the Historic Flight Museum some day soon to see the plane up close.
