Photo of the Day – Machu Picchu Doorway

Machu Picchu Doorway

Title: Machu Picchu Doorway

Location: Machu Picchu, Peru

Description: The view exiting the high priest’s bedchamber represents the classic double doorway reserved for the most sacred of entrances used in Inca architecture.  Stones fitted without mortar (as compared to those outside the doorway) are another sign of high status within the culture.

I’m always fascinated with doorways/windows and other such “frames” I can use in photos.
Loved the story and sense of mystery with this photo…the little patch of green makes you wonder what view you’d see if you proceeded further out the door.
