Taking off from Paine Field at the Everett Boeing manufacturing plant, a Dreamlifter heads back to Japan in a continuous wave of flights. The Dreamlifter is part of a small fleet of specially built planes based on Boeing’s 747 airliner. Equipped with a swing out nose section, the plane shuttles the larger parts needed to complete manufacturing of Boeing’s newest model, the 787 Dreamliner. The thunderous roar from the engines regularly sets off car alarms in a nearby parking lot as the Dreamlifter passes overhead.
If you missed it, yesterday’s Photo Of The Day features the 787 during test runs before final FAA approval for flight.
