I’m stealing my own list listed earlier and updating it. I’m heading to Peru now which offers a broad range of packing peculiarities. I’ll be spending time in the Amazon rainforest at a resort that, when you arrive, offers up cold towels to refresh with. So hot and muggy is the name of the game. Then, if plans go as planned, I’ll be rafting in a deep gorge for 1-4 days. After which I hope to hook up with a 4 or 5 day Inca Trail trek where thermal underwear is highly suggested. I’ve also added some stuff that just came up in the past week. An important item I added was an additional back pack to take trekking. My Rick Steves® Convertible Carry On is comfy enough, but not for real hiking over multiple days.
(UPDATE: Since returning from the Peru trip, I have published a “What Worked and What Didn’t” post if you’re curious on what was most useful from the list)

Hi Ovidiu!
Yes, it all fits in the one bag mentioned at the top. Well….the snacks are in their own bag to make them easy to grab.
I’m taking a single 28-300 lens. It’s big and heavy but I found it perfect for travel photography after a recent trip to Nepal (search here for Nepal for more info).
Superb posting, this is very similar to a site that I have. Please check it out sometime and feel free to leave me a comenet on it and tell me what you think. Im always looking for feedback.
