Painting Pots

Description: Just south of Bhaktapur’s Durbar Square, one of the Kathmandu Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites you can visit on a Far Horizon Photo Tour in 2022, is a place known as Talako’s Potter’s Square.

Here pottery is hand-thrown on artisan wheels and set out in the warmth of the day to dry. It is then painted, in this case by dipping in buckets of stain, and left out to cure before being sold in the surrounding shops or throughout Nepal.
