Now Is A Great Time To Look At Birds

My life list on eBird says that I’ve seen this bird before. Evidently on August 5th, 2018 in the Sepulveda Basin in Los Angeles. I love technology.

Yesterday I spotted this fine Blue Grosbeak in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge of Nevada and it was like the first time. Such bright color!

I’m guessing if you’re not in the birding world, you don’t think Las Vegas as a great place to go birding. But the fact is, any change in geography, topology, climate zone, foliage, water availability brings new opportunity to see new birds.

Right now it is migration season so there are all kinds of birds in all kinds of places they don’t normally hang out. Kind of like me in Vegas. 🙂

That could give you a great opportunity to see something unusual in your own backyard!

Interested in getting into birding, without being a full-on birder? Ask me how. (HINT: Go sit outside for 10 minutes with the Merlin app and see what it can hear for you)
