Description: Now this is what you think of when someone says “big telescope”. While it is not the largest in the world, it is world-class and over 100 years old.
It’s the 60″ telescope at Mount Wilson just outside of LA. Carried up on the back of donkey in 1907-8, this fine instrument was used to make a number of important discoveries, such as that our sun is not at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy.
