Dead Horse Point Observation Point

Description:I’m not sure if that’s what it is really called, but this photo is taken from the observation point at Dead Horse Point State Park.

It shows the ‘other side’ of the magnificent view point you’ve been seeing over the past couple weeks on this site. When not looking to the South, you catch the potash pools.

Let me start with the pretty sunrise photo and then we’ll get to the pools, which are also pretty cool.

The first time I came across these pools was on a satellite image. They stand out in this land of oranges, reds and a little bit of green. Take a look at a Google Maps screen grab.

Can you see them now? Rather obvious, I’d say.

The pools are a potash processing facility that is best explained with this Utah geology site.
