Description:You know that time about an hour before sunrise when the sun, down low below the horizon, starts to light up clouds ever so perfectly? I love those moments of stillness and anticipation of the day ahead.
So much potential is held up in that time when, if the layers of clouds are right, you sometimes get a better light show than after the sun breaches the distant mountains.
In the example below, the soft colors of pre-sunrise filter down to the area below Dead Horse Point State Park in Utah. The actual Canyonlands National Park is off to the right mostly and you catch a glimpse of the Colorado River on the right side of the frame as well. The La Sal mountain are contrasted against the stellar clouds with a soft hue indicative of all the indirect light filtering down.
