Description: The views from 16,600’/5060m can be pretty spectacular. You get to see things from that height that you don’t see from the valleys.
Such as the valley fog parting just enough to witness the awakening of a ridge. A ridge that divides Nepal’s longest glacier from your trail back to civilization you just came up the day before. Still hidden in the fog is the lakeside village of Gokyo.
This is a glimpse of a view on the trail to Gokyo Ri, which tops out about 900’/300m above. The sun was just breaking over the distance peaks, including Mt. Everest, Makalu and Lhotse.
Pulling back a little, you start to see more.
