Description: Way up where the trees can no longer grow, around 15,373’/4686m, there’s an emerald lake and the flanks of the Machermo Range of the Himalayas. Along the shore of this lake winds a small trail, just wide enough to fit a yak and all its supplies for villages further up and down the line.
The area is wide open and invites wandering. The lake is near freezing so it’s best not to go for a dip, but the reflections off these alpine lakes in the morning, before the winds arrive, can be incredible.
If all goes well we’ll be heading back to this valley in Nepal in 2021. Want to join us?
