Title: The Still And The Quick
Location: Boulder River Wilderness, Washington, USA, North America
Description: Shot inside a small gorge of the Boulder River in Washington state. I wanted to capture this image for two reasons:
1) I loved the contrast between the fast moving water and the still pond.
2) It was fickin’ hot this day in the woods and this gorge was like a natural refrigerator (the water having come from snow melt just hours before upstream).
Because of the terrain (slick rocks and a gorge wall) the image was shot handheld with the aid of a 2 stop soft graduated neutral density filter to hold back the harsh light on the upstream river.
