Photo Of The Day – Portraits At The Golden Temple

Title: Portraits At The Golden Temple

Location: Amritsar, Punjab, India, Asia

Description:  Sikhism’s most holy temple, known as Sri Harmandir Sahib or colloquially as the Golden Temple, is a very inviting and welcoming visit. I lead a photo tour to the city, specifically to visit the Temple, in 2013 and it did not disappoint.

We visited the grounds, taking in the sights and sounds, during the celebration of Vaisakhi, giving the Temple and city a particularly charged feel. I loved visiting the langar, or community kitchen that serves tens of thousands of free meals each day without discrimination to race, religion, caste or gender. The huge pots and endless work of those involved was inspiring to see.
