Namche Bazaar Door Coverings

Located two day’s trek from the nearest airport and four day’s trek from the nearest road, Namche Bazaar is a trading hub braced against the side of a Himalayan hill just below treeline. The town is also a hub for trekkers heading toward Everest basecamp or other destinations in the Solukhumbu region of Nepal. Mixed amongst  the lodges catering to the trekking and climbing industry are every day homes.

The images below were taken one October morning before much of the town woke up. Most of the coverings feature the endless knot, a traditional Sherpa symbol.
