Los Angeles Sunrise From The Valley

An aerial view of downtown Los Angeles during sunrise as taken from North in the San Fernando Valley from an airplane

Description:Trying to plan a photo like this might make me a bit bonkers so I am glad serendipity was on my side.

After taking off from Burbank airport I was a bit bummed I was on the left (port) side of the plane while heading to Seattle. I prefer to be on the starboard side so I can watch Yosemite National, the Sierra Nevada, Mono Lake and Lake Tahoe go by while in California. Then The Three Sisters, Mt. Jefferson and Mt. Hood in Oregon. Followed by Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams and Mount Rainier in Washington.

But sometimes, you get what you need, not what you want. I couldn’t have timed this photo better.

The spiky thing you see on the mountain is the communication tower that sits above the Hollywood sign. That is downtown LA in the distance. The Stone Canyon Reservoir can be seen on the right.

Location:San Fernando Valley, California, USA, North America
