First Clear View Of The Himalayas – Photo Of The Day

Description: While there are certainly mountains around you when you step off the plane in Lukla after a short flight from Kathmandu, it’s not until after a few hours of trekking that you happen upon this gorgeous sight.

That’s Thamserku in the distance. You might have seen it in other posts on this blog (here and here and here a little bit over there). In the foreground is the Dudh Kosi (Milk River) that has its start waaayyyyy up the trail toward Everest Basecamp.

In 2019 we were blessed with amazing weather this second day that helped with the already excitable and energetic moods of the small (5 guests) group.

The altitude here is 8844’/2695m and you can get plenty of oxygen from those gorgeous green trees. In a couple more days, the trees thin out along with the air.

A half hour after this photo, there is a nice spot to rest and grab some milk tea while still enjoying the view of the mountain (and to get your own photo).
