A Turquoise Lake At The Foot Of Ama Dablam

Description: Mount Everest isn’t the only reason you should visit the Himalayas. The number and grandeur of the peaks in the Khumbu region alone could fill months of wandering and exploring.

As the weather shifts you get a different feel for each mountain. Ama Dablam, typically shown with its “front” face, gives up little secrets, like this secluded (and high) lake near its Northern base.

How do you get to incredible viewpoints like today’s photo? With the help of local Nepali Sherpa guides and porters. They are who I rely on for all my local logistics during Far Horizon Photo Tours and I couldn’t teach photography in Nepal without them.

The pandemic has ravaged the tourism industry in Nepal, basically shutting down the Spring 2020 trekking season and, more or less, the Fall 2020 season.

That’s why I started a GoFundMe page to help my friend and lead Sherpa guide, Kami, and the 24 different guides and porters he would normally be hiring to run tours.

It warms my heart and I am extremely thankful for all who have donated as we passed $4000 today!

Take a look at the donor page to place a donation and to be informed about how and when the money is distributed. You’ll be able to see your impact through Kami’s words and photos.

Thank you – pwc
