Healthy Family Travel Tips #8 – Bring Extra Photos of Family

Photos On most trips we are so concerned about taking photos while on vacation that we dont’ consider the importance of bringing along photos of our family.

The reason to bring along photos is two fold:

  1. In the rare case that someone becomes lost, having a photo of the family member is vital if others are to help in a search.  This may seem a bit dire, but being able to show a photo of a lost child or spouse will greatly help reduce the time it takes to be reunited with them.
  2. Photos with the whole family in them are good to have when making new friends in far away lands, or even just down the street.  Many times the people you visit and discover on your journeys love the chance to have a memento of your meeting, something to help remember you by.  A family photos does the trick and also lets you jot down contact information if you want to stay in touch when you return home.

I’ve been known to bring along many different photos especially if I’m traveling without my family for a bit of time.  It helps to have some photos in the context of your home town or the area where you live.  People are genuinely interested in what it’s like where you come from and a picture of your family in front of your favorite lake or city helps make a connection more substantial.

On your next trip, don’t forget to print out some photos beforehand, both to give out and keep in case of an emergency.  This little bit of preparation can make a big difference in helping you connect with the people you will meet on your trip.
