Sometimes I become irrationally obsessed with the mundane. During a Level 2 Photo Workshop in Portland two weekends ago, we took a walk around a couple dozen blocks of the city. While helping students, I became highly interested in the repeating pattern of locks.
Big, small, integrated or alone. Like looking for a red car once you notice one, I found it hard to stop seeing them. Everywhere. This is not all of the locks because I thought you all might go mad if you had to view the whole album.
At any rate….have you ever become obsessed by something seemingly trivial that you started photographing it compulsively?

I love detailed shots like these! The way you’ve framed some of these locks along with selective DOF is quite impressive – very creative!
I admire attention to detail. These shots are also a welcome change to the sweeping shots we all so love.
I love these and the idea of shooting a bunch of some ordinary object and then the series is that much more special.
