Last year I published a list of bloggers who care and where to find them. It’s an idea that rattled around in my head until Passports With Purpose came along and made my job easy. You see, most of us bloggers don’t make our living from our blog. Actually, almost all of us don’t. So I wanted a way to recognize those bloggers who are helping make a positive change in the lives of others even when they are receiving nothing back for it. Bloggers who care. And that’s what Passports With Purpose is all about. It’s entirely volunteer run and NO money goes to those running it. ALL money goes to the chosen charity (this year, it’s Room To Read).
While you can not bid on the awesome prizes for this year’s raffle until next week (hint: my own prize, donated by BorrowLenses.com is awesome for photographers and will be announced on November 30, 2011 on this blog), I can tell you about the awesome bloggers who are making this effort possible. They went out on their own and procured prizes all in the interest of helping build two libraries in Africa. To some, two libraries may be a drop in the bucket. But to the kids who now have access to books and ideas not before possible (to help them in their school learning), it means a whole new world opens up.
