This Week’s Guest Photographer, Eric Thalmann

Image 8 This week I’d like to introduce you to Eric Thalmann, hailing from Switzerland, the land of great chocolate and knives.  A self purported amature, but with a keen eye and the right attitude, I’ve enjoyed Eric’s fresh perspective on subjects I don’t normally take into account.  By the way, I think he’s the flag, not the cat, in the photo at left. :)

1. Explain a bit about who you are and the type of photography that interests you most.

I’m a recent and amateur photographer on Flickr. Before I got my reflex camera, I used to take photos without really thinking through, and Photoshop was my second eye :) Now, I invert the process to take the better picture I can, to avoid any further modification.

2. If you could have a paid trip for 4 weeks anywhere in the world, just to photograph and report back, where would it be and why?

The Buthan/Bouthan, for the wonderful landscapes you can have there, or the US again, but alone (too boring for my girlfriend to follow me in several abandoned factories, ghost towns, etc. :)).

3. Name two of your photography inspirations.

Three in fact… it’s all picture styles which I haven’t explored yet but I would to like very much.

This is a picture which impressed me very much. I discover the power of the rotated pictures (and others follows: http://www.flickr.com/photos/strombe/2663234165/ + http://www.flickr.com/photos/johanneseiriksson/408887755/ etc.)

4. What do you hope to convey to others through your photography?

For some pictures I hope to causes questions and a little bit of reflection to discover the entire pictures with details :)
For many pictures I hope the humor I found in the situation is transpired into the photo.
