It is noon on a Sunday afternoon and for once there is absolutely nothing on my calendar for today. A free day. The house is quiet, the heat is running once in a while, a pile of laundry is waiting and soon the timer on the stove will let me know lunch is ready. I guess this is what most of us would call an ordinary life.
While I revel in the ordinary life I do still plan for the extraordinary days and months ahead in 2010. This is not a case of always wanting to be someplace else. I feel I have come to a point in my life where I can be happy here, there, anywhere without longing to be someplace else. I do not long for the open road but I do love it when I am there. I do not long for a 12 hour flight to some distant land, but I also admit thoroughly enjoying it while it is taking place.
So during this ordinary day I will work on plans for the future. First up, December looks to be a month of doing. I have a number of photo shoots planned and to be planned. I have got calendars to sell, photos to edit and a lot of contacts to make before the travels of 2010 can take place. Those planned travels include:
A road trip with my daughter to Utah for New Year’s
3 1/2 weeks exploration of Africa with my daughter, to include Morocco and Tanzania
One month in Nepal trekking the Himalayas and climbing Kyajo Ri
Hopefully a road trip to New York for travel blog exchange 2010
Bringing my love for photography to the classroom for a weekend workshop at Dancing Coyote Camp in June
But for now, my lunch is ready and there is a load of laundry that needs to be changed.
I love being here and I love being ‘there’. A healthy balance makes for a healthy life.
