Don’t ask me why, but I shot this image in JPG instead of RAW.  It could have used a bit more latitude for my liking, but it works.  The shot was taken on Day 3 of the Inca Trail hike.  The ruins are that of Sayaqmarka, an awesome cliffside dwelling accessed only by that thin staircase on the left.

The image is slightly cropped to but out some more of the mist that distracted.  In Adobe Lightroom I then

  • Increased Black clipping to +18
  • Highlight Recovery to +54 to tone down mist
  • Red Saturation dropped to -69 because a backpack in photo was distracting
  • Clarity +40
  • Vibrance +24
  • Contrast +23

The shot was a bit too bright for me and this feels more like that day; damp, chilly and full of wonder.
