Photo Of The Day – Guest Photographer – Katie Greenaway

bgq6babl I first met Katie Greenaway through Travel Blog Exchange which is growing into a wonderful place to meet like minded travel writers.  Not only is she a prolific writer with a passion for all things Florence, she loves to get behind the camera as well!

Having never been to Italy, and after recently featuring Jessica from Rome, I thought it’d be fun to take viewers of The Photo Of The Day to see a bit more of this country.

Katie’s website can be found at http://www.katerinafiore.com and you can subscribe to her blog here!  Lastly, if you’re on Twitter, you can find her as @katerinafiore.  I hope you enjoy her week as guest photographer!

1. Explain a bit about who you are and the type of photography that interests you most.

I am an American gal with an obsession to Italy, Florence in particular.  I have been traveling and living in Florence for the past 6 years and this year I am moving there for good.  I have applied for British citizenship so I can legally live and work in Florence without worry.  I never enjoyed photography as much as I do now.  Florence is a grand backdrop that has helped my love of photography grow.  I enjoy photography that can speak to you.  I look for shots that have a voice, soft or loud, I take it.  Check out my blog at http://blog.katerinafiore.com  it is also linked to my home website that show some of my other works.

2. If you could have a paid trip for 4 weeks anywhere in the world just to photograph and report back, where would it be?

I would love to go to the south of Greece, one of the isles that aren’t crowded by tourists but by locals.  I enjoy taking pictures of people in their daily lives.  Catching candid shots of people doing daily activities.  I love all the white buildings paired with the blue sea and sky.  I see many shots coming out of that paid trip.

3. Name two of your photography inspirations.

I don’t know any famous photographers besides a former teacher of mine, Marcus Donner of Seattle.  He is amazing at capturing light and the most special moments.

4. What do you hope to convey to others through your photography?

I hope to convey a bit of life into each shot I take.  I want to have people say, wow I feel like I am there in this shot.  I want to have see the energy of the candid shot I was able to catch.  I want my love of Italy and Florence to shine through as well.  Because whether you know me well or not, that is one thing you will learn within the first few seconds of meeting me.
