CDC Lifts Travel Advisory For Mexcio

This post is more for my family than anyone else.  I don’t watch the news and only occasionally read online newspapers.  So I’m a little slow sometimes.  Which brings up this post!

My daughter and I are traveling to Mexico this month (look for some actual real, semi-live blogging from the trip!) with some friends and then the piggy flu broke out.  As you can imagine, everyone who knew of our plans immediately had a very worried look on their face and was amazed when I told them I’d wait and see.  Most people wanted me to cancel my trip right then, I mean, how could I obviously go down there just to get infected!!

Not reading the news daily will give you an interesting perspective once you do actually go and check it out.  Whoa nelly!!  That stuff is a sideshow!  Talk about over blown and sensational.  I did love John Stewart’s take on it (see below).  I then sat down, took a look at some the facts and waited.

Sure enough, two weeks ago on the 15th of May the CDC lifted the travel restriction on Mexico.  Yeah!  It really doesn’t change my plan of being cautious, watching my and my daughter’s health, taking preventive measures and generally being a healthy traveler.  It’s just nice to know I’ll hopefully be bugged a bit less by family and friends.

Still, I’ve told my daughter we will NOT be kissing any pigs in Mexico this time.
