US Airways has a special offer going right now we actually found useful. After my recent rant on how hard it is to use airmiles now-a-days, there is some good news coming out of USAir. They made it easier to transfer those miles from one family member to the another. Normally the cost to transfer from one family member to another is 3cents a mile…only .5cents less than outright BUYING the miles. This never seemed like much of a good idea to me.
But with Kim recently having to use 50,000 miles to bring her sister out here from Pennsylvania, Kim was 1,500 miles short of another 50,000 miles. When I checked the miles sharing site, I found they had temporarily reduced the cost of transferring miles from one family member to another to only a penny a mile! This was good news. There is still a $25 per transaction fee and you pay tax with a minimum of 5000 miles to transfer, but it gives me hope we can all one day take a trip….maybe…..to Europe or South America with the miles.
