Safeway announced a week ago they will be switching their entire trucking fleet over to biodiesel. I can’t find any place in the press release which grade (percentage) of biodiesel they will be using, so it could be 2% or 100%. I’ll write and see if I can find out more. I still have some mixed feelings about large acceptance of biodiesel in its current production state. But it is better on average than using oil from the ground and dumping more carbon and such into the air.
This is the first time I had heard of Safeway’s green initiatives. They have some other impressive statements and it’ll be good if they can deliver on them. Check out the press release linked above for more info.
