Ahhhh….REI Dividend Time. It lets you know Spring is around the corner when you received your special envelope in the mail. This year, we actually received emails about our dividend before the actual envelope, so it wasn’t as exciting, but a refund is a refund and we plan to enjoy them both. This year, Kim is planning on getting the SteriPEN Adventurer Water Purifier with Solar Charging Case . This looks like
it’ll be a handy item on our travels. We plan on bringing our own water bottles so we aren’t just using up plastic bottles everywhere, which tend to end up in trash or on the road in most developing countries. While we won’t always need or be able to use the solar panel, it’s a good carrying case which does have the ability to charge CR123 size batteries. We’ve used these same batteries in our solar powered weather station for almost two years now and they hold a charge very well.
I’m thinking of getting the Joby Gorillapod SLR . I first noticed this gadget in Geeky Traveler’s blog and it looks like it might be a good use of my dividend. Or possibly I’ll get some more socks or something specifically for the trek in October. I’m still not sure and have until the 30th to use it. Any suggestions???
