Something here smells. It’s followed me since I left home. I’m in SeaTac International Airport on my way to Peru, arriving tomorrow. But the smell will probably follow me there. I’m learning the smell is me.
It seems the shirt I wore on my last trip and that may, or may not, have been washed sparingly while on the trail in Nepal, hasn’t given up that wonderful trail aroma. The wonderful trail aroma seems a lot more poignant here in the airport where people are wearing perfume and going on business trips.
Well, give it a day and I’m sure I won’t notice. But for now if you happen to be around me, I’m sorry if I offend.
Other than that, SeaTac has been making some big improvements for the better. Although I don’t consider more Burger Kings an improvement, Alaska’s check-in desks sure have made a leap forward. Far more agents and what seem like shorter lines (because there are a lot more of them) made it easy to check-in. The train to the North and South gates is of so much more attractive. There are a lot more outlets for laptops and camera batteries to plug into (yes, I left the house with a near dead camera battery, doh!) But, the water still tastes heavy of chlorine, ick. And I can truly do without CNN being blared all over the place. Those are about my only two gripes as it’s been easy getting into and through the airport.
I just hope it’s not my last relaxing airport experience, but I know better. I miss my family already but know they too will be having a good time while I’m gone. And I have ample pictures to remember them with and share with others I meet along the way. The plane I’m leaving on just landed and is deplaning so I’m going to go stretch my legs a bit.
