Kim’s Heading Back to School

After letting it sit on the back burner, Kim has decided to return to school and pick up a degree as a Certified Massage Therapist.  The timing may seem kinda sudden to most, but it is something she has wanted to do for a while.   Classes start April 21st and the program is one year long.  She will be attending Everest College (formerly Ashmead) in Seattle 5 days a week in the mornings, commuting until the house is sold.  The program will also include a Spa specialty which adds to the course work but also improves opportunities down the road.

This will push back our plans to travel the world (originally slated to being January of 2009) until after she completes the program and test.  And maybe a bit longer after that, so maybe starting January of 2010.  The training and certification will be a good fit for the travels as it’s a skill that can be practiced anywhere in the world.  We are also not ruling out spending a bit more time in certain locations if we need to pick up some extra dough or if she really enjoys where she is working.  It does add some complexity to get a work permit, but that’s all to be figured out down the road.

And personally, I’m excited about the part of the course where she gets to practice on me more often.  :)  I’m fine with free massages.  And we’re both excited about Kim following something she is passionate about (healing work) and making it a reality.
