Heading to Nepal for Some Trekking

Thamserku Kim and I are heading to Nepal in October to do some trekking.  This will be my first trip to Nepal and Kim’s third.  To say the least, I’m super excited.  I’ve been wanting to head to Nepal for about 12 years now and now is a good time.  We will be trekking in the Khumbu Himal region which is where Everest and a number of the other 8000m peaks are.  While we won’t be heading up any mountains, we will be heading over a pass that reaches 18,000′ and that will definitely be the highest I’ve ever been.  I’m not sure how I’ll do with the altitude as I tend to get signs of Acute Mountain Sickness around 10,000′, but proper acclimatization will help.

I’ll be posting up a gear packing list as given to us by Four Winds Himalayan Guide Service, a local, small company.  Kim will undoubtedly help me slim it down to just what I need.  After helping her pack for the last two treks but not going on them, I’m excited to be packing my own.  We’re also at a point now where we don’t bring a lot of extra fluff and can handle weeks without a shower (this trip requires at least 10 days without a shower).

Did I mention I’m excited?
