It’s now possible to get your Google Calendar into Thunderbird! Ok, maybe only the geeks amongst us will be excited, but I’ve been trying figure this out for a while. I like the Google Calendar as it’s easy, simple and online, so I can access it from anywhere. But I also prefer to use Mozilla Thunderbird for email to sort and use offline.
Mozilla has a add-on for Thunderbird called Lightning, based on their Sunbird calendar. It’s easy to add (see instructions later) and works well. But you can only access it from the computer where you’ve installed Thunderbird. (see post about PortableApps).
Well, there is now a new add-on so you may access your private Google Calendar from Thunderbird with Lightning. Instructions with links to downloads for both Lightning and the Provider for Google Calendar can be found here.
